1999 Cutlass GLS Starter Troublesjohngls 09-06-2004, 10:33 PM I just purchased a 1999 Cutlass GLS with 71,000 miles. Very good shape etc etc. I have driven it 200 miles and now the thing has a hard time starting....like barely turning over and when I hear it crank a little like it wants to live...i tap the gas a very little bit and it starts up but I need to keep the accelerator down half way till it gets it right amount of gas. I have the 100,000 mile warranty but is there anything I should try first. Thanks a bunch people. ngnate 09-07-2004, 02:19 AM Check the battery. If you know someone with a charge or jumpercables have them hook them on and charge 5-10 minutes. If it starts right up its probably a bad battery or something is draining the battery such as domelight that stays on. If you don't know someone with that stuff, you can usually go to a tire place such as Les Schawb or a good autoparts store such NAPA, and they'll more than likely test the battery for free. I know those 2 stores in my town test for free, if you can get your car there. If the battery's not bad and nothing is draining it when the car is shut off, then it is probably the starter. Good Luck! I'm hoping for a bad battery cause it's easier and cheaper to replace. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
