95 windstar transmission replacingkmcclark 09-06-2004, 04:59 PM Hello; We have a 95 Windstar that will not go into reverse, or overdrive. Should we have this rebuilt at $2000 or call it a day? It was making a clunking sound a few months ago and then it just went. Any suggestions, this has been a wonderful van otherwise, would hate to part with it... bigboyisme 09-20-2004, 03:10 PM Can you replace it yourself? If you can, I suggest you get one from a junkyard and replace it yourself. Would cost a lot less money. jgbmo 09-24-2004, 07:34 PM If you are a good mechanic, I would recommend removing the tranny and taking it to a good rebuilder--or exchange for one that has been rebuilt by a good rebuilder. I did that with my '94 Taurus sedan, and it's been great. My cost was just over $1000--quite a savings! I'm sure the process is similar for a Windstar. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
