Ligh Truck Question

Im just wondering. How come it is so damn hard to find an S-10 with a v6 5speed? and its not just S-10s. Mazda B-series, Ford Ranger, Dodge Dakota, and almost any other light truck. If it has a V-6 9 times out of 10 its an auto. Im looking for a light truck to tune but the 4cyl. in light trucks are so weak. also i hate automatic transmissions...way too sluggish unless its an extremely high torque motor. i drove a friends S-10 with a 4cyl auto and i just about thought the thing wasnt going to get to 60...and it is a '98. I drive my mothers '04 nissan frintier with the DOHC 2.4L 4cylender and when having fun driving w/o exceeding the speed limit i have to keep the thing in 3rd 99% of the time because even in 4th the thing wont accelerate from 45 to 55 very quickly...and try asking it to do that in 5th...of course 3rd is the gear yo uare sapposed to accelerate in but even in 4th ill floor it an to accelerate 10mph faster it takes it a good 4-5 seconds and the engin is turning at 2500RPM...redlines ar 5500...i personally think nissan screwed up on the tranny beause 1st is way too short...i start the truck in 2nd at redlinght most of the time...3rd is a good gear but 4th is way too tall and 5th is too short compared to 4th...i can treat it like a 3 speed...2nd, 3rd, 5th.... but any way please answear my question about the v-6 5speed

Re: Ligh Truck Question

the 4.3L has a lot of torque, somewhere around 250-260 ft lbs.

They are out there though in 5 speed, but usually only in the base models.

Re: Ligh Truck Question

ive seen a few of em and that is all im looking for but 4cyl 5speeds are the most common....i might have to settle for the lil' 4cylender and put the money savedfrom getting a turbo or cyntrifical supercharger kit... :'(

Oh god NO!

The 4cyl is gutless.

It better to have a 4.3L auto than a 4cyl standard any day.

Re: Ligh Truck Question

It would probably cost you less to buy a rear-ended camaro, and do a motor, transmission swap, than to do a proper turbo conversion on a 4 banger.

Re: Ligh Truck Question

Had a 90 4.3 5 spd Blazer and it was VERY nice to drive. Lots of torque even with 32's. Check on ebay. Only the select few of us like the stick shift cars and trucks anymore so the lots often unload hard sells on ebay.
