Help Asap Please97silverbulletgsx 08-29-2004, 05:58 PM im putting 2 15" audiobahn subs witha 1400 watt amp in my gsx and i need to know what kind of amp kit to get, like the basic info and stuff to get in the kit. help please asap thanks george536 08-29-2004, 06:24 PM any amp kit would be fine as long as it says it can hold the watts of your amp. but if you have the money there are audiobahn amp kit. i think is a little better than the generic but its almost the same. EVOclipse 08-30-2004, 09:31 AM well for 1400W get atleast 2 guage power/groundwire and id run something heavy to the speakers too. as for kits...blah blah just get the wire and do it yourself. dont worry about a CAP just yet. go for some thick wire and youll be fine. LittleGSEclipse 08-30-2004, 10:35 AM You can get pretty much any amp kit really. Just get some good RCA's. And you should definately worry about a cap pushing out 1400 watts to 2 15in audiobahns. I had 2 12in audiobahn Alum 12Q's pushing a 1200 watt audiobahn amp and it was killing my battery. So definately invest in a cap especially with a regular battery and stock alternator. helliviknow 08-30-2004, 02:59 PM is that 1400 watt amp a audiobahn? yeah id go with a 2ga amp kit but i think u could get by with a 4 ga. as far as brand iv found on amp kits it really doesnt matter. power wire is power wire as far as im concerned. only thing i would look for is a pair of good rca's cuz thats were u loose quality with cheap shiz... id would also definatly find a cap or your be watchin your headlights dim hah ashah000 08-30-2004, 05:42 PM 96TSi 08-30-2004, 06:30 PM anything over 600watts RMS will push a 15inch speaker no problem. 600watts RMS is somewhere around 1300watts MAX (depending on the brand) also, stay away from Rockford Fosgate amps, they arent worth a shit when it comes to pushing big speakers like 15s JoeWagon 08-30-2004, 09:11 PM Are you sure that you want to spend $1000+ if you don't know what 'basics' you need to wire an amp and 2 speakers? If you are against learning how to do it right from a friend, or having a pro do it, there is nothing we need to tell you that isn't true for all cars. What is an 'amp kit'? You need wires, a fuse, and experience. Oh, and my low power rockford amp taught all of my "high watt hype" friends the truth. It's an old amp on a 15'' JL, which magically outperformed all of the newer expensive stuff. Just my experience though. I don't buy that power is better than quality. RSLaser 08-30-2004, 11:19 PM P.S. Dont forget a car noise eliminator(i dont remember the actual name). I used 4ag wire, and RCAs. And a capacitor comes in handy if your gonna blow at a car show. Keeps it constant, no fading. And joe, what model rockford is that, after 2000 i believe they went to cheater amps....you know when it says 300 watts its more like 450...and so on. Thats why rockfords are so cool! P.S. Rockfords are cool JoeWagon 08-31-2004, 01:46 AM I have a 2 way 250watt, old style looking.. bought it from a friend cheap, so I assume its 98-01 or something like that. It just does good on my 15, and I've heard off-brand amps of higher power barely make any noise on the same speaker... so I believe it's all about the quality.
