Turbo vs SuperchargerRuff_life 08-25-2004, 10:52 AM What is the advantage and disadvantage of a turbo vs. supercharger? Which one is better if you have an option to purchase one for your Z? Please don't be bias if you have a turbo or a superchager in your car. If you have either one of this in your car than your experience and knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jas_M 08-25-2004, 12:58 PM Here ya go bud, this should answer your qustions: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=417&highlight=turbocharging+supercharging k3smostwanted 08-25-2004, 02:46 PM im not gonna list advantages and disadvantages of each but you can read that forum that was listed by Jas_M. i say twin turbochargers, you will see why after reading that. CaTasHtRoPhE 67 08-27-2004, 02:19 AM Twin turbo that would make some series power there 2003_350z_Touring 08-28-2004, 12:55 AM Tt! westpak 08-28-2004, 12:28 PM Tt :) dustrman03 08-28-2004, 01:10 PM yesss...im gonna have to say twinny twin twin turbo also. longlivetheZ 09-01-2004, 08:55 PM Here ya go bud, this should answer your qustions: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=417&highlight=turbocharging+supercharging I don't like that artical. 2 reasons...1) they make too big of a deal about how the turbo blocks the exhaust path. It causes a very small restriction and what problem it does cause is cancelled out exponentially as RPMs increase as the turbo spools up...2) it's a little unclear and they kinda take an odd approach to the subject...more of a science kind of approach rather than a mechanical or engineering approach. I prefer this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=244431) artical. Read that, then tell me how bad you wanna supercharge your car. A turbo system that is well thought out and well planned is the only way to go. Go with a single turbo that is suited to your intentions (eg acceleration...max power...in the middle...whatever you want...the compressor/turbine/housings combinations are nearly endless...turbos are infinately more versatile that S/Cs...), a properly sized intercooler, all the piping and everything in between, external wastegate, boost controller, etc. This will result in very little lag, if any at all (...I've seen turbo systems making boost at idle...), and unbeatable performance, if done right. 2003_350z_Touring 09-02-2004, 10:52 AM Long live the Z....you've got a great signature longlivetheZ 09-02-2004, 02:57 PM Thank you, sir. That dude with the oil...couldn't friggin believe that shit... 2.2 Straight six 09-03-2004, 04:45 AM turbos will give you much more power and there are more to choose from plus you cant adjust boost with a supercharger unless you remove the blower boost pulley (the wheel that drives the charger) but on a turbo using a boost controller and turbo timer you can lower or increase boost within its limits DeleriousZ 09-03-2004, 03:39 PM you're welcome llz;) i also agree with all these guys, tt, or even just a t setup would be the way to go, however, as llz said, make sure you get all the other components to fit your needs otherwise your car might not make boost till 4500 rpm, or worse yet, blow up longlivetheZ 09-03-2004, 07:45 PM Turbo, definately... otter7467 09-15-2004, 12:20 AM No question turbo is the way Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
