Hello: What is a DOCH ? thanks Kool Aid koolaidkid 08-26-2004, 09:00 PM the dying out...clean your IAC motor!! Hello and thanks. What is a IAC motor? thanks KOOL AID avman9000 08-28-2004, 05:51 PM A DOHC is a Dual over head cam, as apose to a single over head cam (SOHC). DOHC has two valves going into each cylinder, and two comming out.. so for a four cylinder DOHC neon there would be 16V (valves) IAC is Idle Air Control . You can attempt to clean it with a good cleaner like berkibile 2+2. Good luck. koolaidkid 08-29-2004, 09:36 AM I had the same prob with my DOCH... i had taked the screws out, and i didnt see a reason for putting them back in since it was held tightly... but i realized that they werent only to hold it in place, but also ground it.. make sure you have the mounting screws in... as far as the dieing out... i dont think i can help you... Hello: You mention you had taken the screws out and didn't see any reason to put them back in. Question, screws out of what?? thanks Kool Aid avman9000 08-29-2004, 05:10 PM i took the screws out of the guages, like the whole face. if you have never tooke the guages out, it probably is not the problem.. the screws are on the side (under the dash) in the corners of the guages.. youd have to pop the dash off, and check... hope you figure it out.. when my guages went out thought i could get it to work temperarly by pushing on the face, but that didnt realy solve it so gluck man. koolaidkid 09-08-2004, 07:16 PM i took the screws out of the guages, like the whole face. if you have never tooke the guages out, it probably is not the problem.. the screws are on the side (under the dash) in the corners of the guages.. youd have to pop the dash off, and check... hope you figure it out.. when my guages went out thought i could get it to work temperarly by pushing on the face, but that didnt realy solve it so gluck man. Hello: If i take the speed sensor out and spin the gear with my hand, the speedometer will work. But after putting it back in, the speedometer will not work. What do you think that might be? thanks! Kool Aid mdwinter 09-26-2004, 04:59 PM I had the same problem with my neon. What you need to do is take the cluster screws out and then where the piece is that connects to your connector in the car, you need to take the screws out of that. Then finally after all the necessary screws have been removed, you will see two rows of four or five "buttons" , these need to be sauldered (sp) and then the speedometer will work fine!!! Good Luck. mprtech 09-26-2004, 07:00 PM The gear that you spun with your hand, did you notice if the teeth were flat. If the teeth have a concave shape they are most likely stripped. I would replace the plastic gear first and see what happens. koolaidkid 10-05-2004, 10:13 PM The gear that you spun with your hand, did you notice if the teeth were flat. Hello: thanks for getting back to me. the gear i spun with my hand looks fine. could it be the gear in the transmission. if so how do you get to it? thanks Koolaid Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
