knocking noise from transmission?antb 08-23-2004, 08:32 AM Hello guys, what could possibly cause a ticking-kind-of-knocking sound coming from below my 95 gc? it is not a steady noise and it only happens when the car is in gear. I can say that sometimes when I take it out of reverse to drive I get kind of a solid kinda clunk. I did have the front axle replaced about a month ago. but this nosie just started yesterday. Oh, and I cannot hear it when the car is in motion...only at idle while in gear. Thank you agian for your adivce guys! mrtv99 09-27-2004, 06:01 PM I have the same problem contact me by e-mail if you solved it thanks... mrtv99 09-28-2004, 10:17 AM can someone please help with this it is very annoying...only thing I can thank of is a loose bolt near the transmission lloydjv 09-28-2004, 10:56 AM Have your u-joints checked. they are not expensive to buy, but depending on the shop, and labor, they could be expensive to have installed. Also check you tranny mount and crossmember for looseness. May be your exhaust is tapping the frame. mrtv99 09-28-2004, 11:29 AM appreciate it i'll try that dksob81 09-28-2004, 07:47 PM also check the Exhaust Clamps, Cam7 09-29-2004, 04:46 AM If ti only does it when you put in gear it sounds like a bad U joint.
