99 Accord V6 Tires Help

I own a 99 Honda Accod V6 and put some American Racing Wheels and 215/50/17 tires on and this size tire scrubbs if I have people in the back seat - thank God Sears will take the package back. My original tires are 205/65/15...

I want to get some new Falken Hanabi's and need to know what is the biggest (side profile view is most important) tires I can put on this car with out having them scrubb. I have looked at a few sites that have tire programs and they recommend the 215/50/17 but I know those are too big so I need expert advice...

Thanks for the help
Robert

215/50/17 is one of correct sizes.
other one is 225/50/17
215/45/17 is too small
use this to compair tire sizes -> http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi

if you had tire rubbing issues with 215/50/17 tires, your rims have offset that too low for Accord. offset on lowered Accord should not be less then +42mm (for 7" wide rim).
wider tire (225/50) will increase rubbing.

From experience. 225/50/17 is extremely wide for an Accord (dropped or stock suspension) The fenders are too narrow. When the springs are compressed (load) the tires will rub against teh inner wheel well. I'm not sire if this is a V6 or 4 banger. But my 4cyl came stock with 195/65/15 So the correct tire size is 215/45/17 Most companies recommend 205/40/17 but 215/45/17 is perfect.

195/65/15
205/55/16
215/45/17
225/40/18

I put link to tire sizing calculator on purpose, use it to determine other tire sizes that you can put on your car and still maintain proper diameter.

As far 225mm tire too wide for accord; it’s not too wide, there are people with 235mm and 245mm wide tires and have no rubbing problem. Most rubbing problems due to rims offset being too low. If offset is wrong, even 205mm tires will rub against fenders.

Yes accord has narrow fender well, but if you do home work before buying rims you won’t have any problems.
Here are some things that you won’t need to look at when choosing rims;
Height of car
Rims width
Rims offset
Tires width
