Your fuel relay shit the bed. End of story.

I've never had the problem personally, but I've heard it.

Turn the car to "on" and listen for a small "hummmm click." If you don't hear it, it means the relay is bad (or the pump, but the pump is less likely). 3 bucks at autozone.

You have to wait untin the ECU doesn't see any fuel pressure. Leave it over night, and you get about 2 shots at it before you have to wait another 8 hours. Be sure its quiet.

Also, check your return line. It may have a hole or something in it. If you hear the pump going more than twice, your car isn't holding fuel pressure somewhere. This may be the cause of the gas smell.

Because of the gas smell, I'd recommend replacing the fuel lines ANYWAY, even if the relay is the problem. Most likely though, the gas smell is only partially related, and not your prime problem.

It went to a car wash, right? The coil or distributor probably got wet. No spark, no run. Let it dry and it'll probably start right up.

???Fuel pump relay????? If either the pump or relay died there wouldn't be too much gas, but NO gas WHATSOEVER. How could a pump that doesn't pump, pump too much? And do we call them woodchucks if they don't chuck wood? (just threw that last one in for fun)

Wanted to buy:
86-88 Fiero GT, 5 speed, fixer-upper. Blown motor, no motor? No problem! Rusty unibodies need not apply.
74-79 Ramcharger or 100, slant or no motor - not interested in v8 - Overdrive 4 is a big plus, NO hopeless rust buckets!!!
3Rd gen F body floor pans/camaro door skin (L)

Why is it I see so many "Proud to be an American" bumper stickers on the backs of cars made in Japan or Korea??????
