Volvo 940 8V-94 Model

Hi. I am new here and need help on my Volvo 940 which has got some problems. Would like to get some knowledge before taking it apart.
My catalytic converter with EGR has given way and makes a lot of noise. Can I do away without one and what will be the side effect on the CPU.
MIne is a non turbo engine.Any advise on converting to turbo.
What is the likely cause for the speedometer to register different reading while on a smoth drive.Can it be the speed sensor or the servo. I understand it is inter related as the cruise control operates on Vacume created by the servo.

Grettings I had Volvo 940 yars 94 of relase.Desel-turbo 2.4 volume. I had too problems with turbine, But a had BIG discount in ***Link Edited Out By Moderator***,because is VOLVO :-) and because is diesel
