I have this 94 Taurus that is having troubles with the altentor and last week I went to the parts store and got a new one. I placed it in the car and it broke down on the way to work. I finally got it home and placed the battery on the charger over night while I was at work. When I got home the next morning I tested the volts that the altenator was putting out it was only running at 11.68 so I took the altenator back and got a new one. I guess my question is has anyone had a problem like this and how did you fix it. I really like this car and would like to keep it going if I could do so without putting alot of money into it.

Don't take it as unusual to get a part from a parts store that isn't right and you need to take it back for another. Also not unusual to get a wrong part, plan on similar return trips. Your last sentence is the wish of every car owner.
