my 86 325e works great when its revved. when i turn the key it turns on, revs really high, stays high for a second, and then cutts out. i cleaned out the idle air control, and i messed with the screw in the IAC. i need to get this running. any advise??

me thinks it's time for you to buy an' read a repair manual, then take it step by step.

ive seriously tried everything i can think of, and did buy a manual and tried that. nothing works and i was just askin one more time before i took it to a shop

Are your fuel and ignition systems in good shape? I've had a similar problem with my 86 325es as well. I solved the problem by replacing the really worn out rotor and distributor cap. Now it starts up everytime...and never cuts out. The only problem I have now is the idling...
