sounds good fellas, yep thanks spy, now i will ask my question for the millionth time but when i do this ima do it right, and i wanna do a swap when i get my crx, and wondering what you guys would suggest as the better swap, my original plan was a 99 civ engine with a supercharger, but is there a better engine than that, cuz i want power, and i have money, suggestions would be appreciated:smoker2:

If this is into an 88-91 civic/crx then that motor is going to be a bitch to put in because of the wiring required to run obd2. Any easier option is a jdm b16a from the civic SiR or integra xsi. This will bolt in withe the aid of a mount kit. If the motor is going into another car then let us know.:)

ok spy i was just gettin a second opinion, oh yea i'll have probably 5g's plus? if i save from now till the summer which is when i wanna begin my ''project'' But i wanna ask you all this, on modacar.com there's the power packages you can buy with the cai, exhaust, headers, and a JSC, and they make one for the 90-91 crx, will it work with the sir? and whats the exact difference between the si and sir? i believe it's hp correct me if i'm wrong

the b16a from an sir/integ xsi, is more or less the exact same engine as the engine in the 99 si, except its non OBD, has a cable tranny, and has like 10 hp less....plus its about 1000 cheaper

It has the same amount of hp. The only ones that had more were the jdm 2nd gen b16s. They had a 170 hp. All US spec b16s and jdm 1st gen b16s had 160hp.:)

oh yeah...since you have five gs, if you did labor yourself, you could buy a turbo kit, and be boosting your b16a, and hauling some major a$$

very nice i think i'll go with the jdm sir engine then, i'll have the money easy. Anyway i could get my dad to do it but i can't use up the garage bay so i think i'll have to pay for labor ya know. And i was wanting a supercharger instead, do they even make superchargers for the sir engine, because i don't know how much different they are from the crx si engine....

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't there a JRSC kit for the B16A3 used in the USDM Si. If so, i'm sure this would pretty much bolt straight up as most of the differences with the B16a's from gen to gen are either compression, ecu management or sensors, rather than actual engine design.

I think there may be engine bay issues though worshp, I'm not too sure. I think there's more room in a 6G bay than in a 4G - I know my SiR engine bay is cramped as all hell with the B16A plus air-con and power-steering. There's no room for a JRSC in there I don't think - unless the custom engine mounts give you more room than the Honda ones.

Persanally, if I was doing the swap I'd be turboing a B18 and forgetting about VTEC :)
