Backfires at startctaylor2 08-10-2004, 10:32 AM I have a 1995 Dodge Neon it was running good and now when I first start the car it turns over for about a minute then starts with a loud Bang.(Backfires out exhaust) This will only happen when it sets over night. Please help me figure out whats wrong? Thanks :banghead: soul_sword34 08-18-2004, 03:50 AM timing maybe? Check that. dj4monie 08-19-2004, 04:18 AM How old are your spark plugs and wires? soul_sword34 08-19-2004, 10:32 AM straight out of the Haynes manual, which you really should get, it can only be one of five things. I think plugs and wires top the list though and not the timing issue but who knows. 1. Emission control system not functioning properly 2. Faulty spark plug wires or coil(s) 3. Problem with the fuel injection system 4. Vacuum leak at the fuel injector(s), intake manifold or vacuum hoses 5. Burned valves or incorrect valve timing. Any one of those is your problem. Start with the easyest first and then work up. :) Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
