Exhaust system.RADMANX 08-10-2004, 06:36 AM I am looking into getting a cat-back exhaust system for my ride. I was looking at the Apexi and Greddy mostly, but i was wondering if another exhaust like DC sports, or Borla, would give me similar sound.. i want a nice deep tone and no rice burner. joemathews 08-10-2004, 12:43 PM Apexi, Greddy, and RnR have been touted as the most popular exhausts for turbo DSMs...remind me again if your car is turbo or non? Personally I think exhaust companies are scam artists, and you can go just as fast on a $200 muffler shop exhaust as you can on a $600 brand name one. If I were you I would call a local muffler shop and ask if they do custom exhaust systems. If so, take your car by, have them put it up on a rack, and get a quote for the piping from the cat back, or wherever you decide is the best place to start the exhaust. Then you can slap a nice muffler on there and have roughly the same sound, look, and performance as an Apexi or Greddy for a much lower price. Sleepr awd 08-10-2004, 03:58 PM I'm going to agree, custom muffler did my neighbors exhaust and it looked just like the N1 exhaust and had a really nice sound done for 180$ his brothers was 130 b/c his bro didn't need the o2 sensor RADMANX 08-10-2004, 06:09 PM SO.... i should call some local muffler shops, compare prices, then buy something like the Apexi N1 universal muffler?> Sleepr awd 08-10-2004, 06:23 PM something lke that yea, i swung by midas and custom muffler today, custom muffler said 160 if i bought my own muffler and midas said 200 w/ one of their raven mufflers (some look like GReddy) ashah000 08-10-2004, 07:34 PM Try to find places that will mandrel bend the pipes metalhedskater 08-10-2004, 08:37 PM I know this is a stupid question, but can we buy a domestic muffler and put it on our car? could we get that same sound if we wanted to? I know it would be hard because of the turbo, but just out of curiousity.... joemathews 08-12-2004, 01:12 AM Getting a domestic muffler, dual exhaust, etc. won't make your car sound like a V8, if that's what you're asking. If you're looking to sound like a 4 cylinder domestic, I don't know why ;). Any muffler will sound good on a turbo DSM. It is possible to get one that sounds too loud for your tastes, but trust me, it is hard to make a turbo DSM sound bad :D. I bought a dual tip ebay muffler off of a friend for $30 and had it installed and hung anyway, figuring wtf. Sounds beautiful...I'll get some sound clips on here as soon as my computer starts running again :( Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
