88 s-15 misfiring

88 s-15 2.8L 167000 mi.

engine misfires on acceleration, once up to spead engine continues to misfire unless at less than 2000 rpm or more than 3500. just replaced alternator that had gone out... about to replace spark plugs and wires.

a friend mentioned that it might be having problems with compression.

any other ideas?

thanx

Re: 88 s-15 misfiring

change your rotor and distributor cap too. Make sure you get the plug wires in the right order and in the right place on the cap. firing order 1-2-3-4-5-6

Check the ignition module, ESC, coil, pick up coil, anti-knock sensor, fuel cleanliness and pressure.
