air bag

Recently I had a minor repair on my Grand Am Gt 2000, they had to enter the steering column. I was told the that air bag had to be disengaged to fix the problem. My question is, how will I know if they reengaged the bag? I don't want to wait until it's too late. The dash light flashes when I turn the car on like it's suppose to then goes off. I take that as a good sign. Any advise would be lovely. Thanks...HoOfA
