Keyless Entry Info for 2003 Saturn ION...

I'm new to this forum, and looked at several prior postings but couldn't
find the how to answer...

I have a 2003 Saturn Ion 3, four door with the factory keyless option.
I purchased an extra remote "third" for my daughter on the web;
the numbers match the original two remotes, but no instructions.
Can someone provide the steps to reprogramming the remotes?

The back of the remote has the info:
VALEO 22675165
FCC ID: N5F736566-A
CANADA: 3248A 736 566-A

Re: Keyless Entry Info for 2003 Saturn ION...

someone told me this for the S-seires, i have heard similar instructions for the L-series, so it might work. if it doesn't then go to the dealership, the nice ones will do it for free.

Here's how to program a new remote: Jumper pins 4 and 8 on the OBDII connector by the driver's left knee (I used a paper clip; may SURE you jumper the correct pins or very bad things could happen). You do not need the key in the ignition. Place the paper clip in the 4 and 8 jumper pins. You should hear a horn chirp, then hold the lock and unlock buttons on the fob until the horn honks (should be about 15 sec.), now hold the lock and unlock buttons on the second or third transmitter. The trasmitters are now programmed. Now pull out the paper clip and you should be good to go. This is valid for '97-99 S series with the Saturn Security System (I think).

All existing remotes will no longer work if not programmed with the others.

Hi Sierrap615, thanks for the quick reply!

I took a look at the "OBDII" connector, there are 2 rows of 8 holes,
but not all have wires. From another posting that I have seen;
stated to do the same; ie., place a "U" shaped paper clip to connect
pins 4 and 8 as you described; counting from the top row from left
to right.

My 2003 Saturn ION 3, pin 8, the top, right most hole doesn't have
a wire in it? Humm? Only 6 of the 16 holes are wired.

Also, thanks for the other tip, perhaps I can find a "nice" saturn
dealer!!! It doesn't hurt to ask!

*** If someone has successfully reprogrammed remotes on a 2003-2004
Saturn ION, please post a reply! Thanks again! :-)
