Unhappy need new a/c system

Can someone tell me what are all the componenets I will need to replace my a/c system in my 1992 525i. The compressor is completely fried. Besides a new compressor what are some of the other components I will need to do the job right? BMW wants to replace the system with a new retrofitted system that will cost about $1700.00.

I have a service technician at BMW who will do the job for $150.00 (Labor) if I get all the components.

Re: need new a/c system

besides the compressor, you'll need a R-134 compatible receiver/drier [different desicant], and a service port conversion kit. the system should be flushed before component replacement.
