Transmission flush query....byubrian 07-26-2004, 11:37 PM Just bought a 99 Rodeo w/ V6, 3.2L... How can I tell if I need a tranny flush? Should the flush be done by an Iauzu dealer or is an independent mechanic ok? This tranny is a bit different than what I am use to seeing. Thanks amigo-2k 07-27-2004, 12:26 AM If you have over 80k on it,I would suggest that you take it to the dealer and have the tranny pan dropped and filter replaced. This will only replace about 3.5qts of the 9 or so qts in the system. Then next year have it flushed. Otherwise, it is up to u if you want to spend a couple more bucks for the isuzu dealer to flush your tranny for you. -Ryan byubrian 07-27-2004, 01:05 AM If you have over 80k on it,I would suggest that you take it to the dealer and have the tranny pan dropped and filter replaced. It takes some specialized equipment to do as this is supposed to be a "sealed" transmission. amigo-2k 07-27-2004, 09:44 AM Yup, anyone with a tranny flush machine can do it. All they do is pull of one of the hoses that goes to the radiator and then flush it from there. I flush mine every 25-30k (once every 2 yrs). I'm planning on having the filter replaced at about 75-80K (if you read my FAQ link below at the bottom of the page, there is a guy who had yearly flushes done and then he replaced the filter at 80k and he said there was an alumin paste in the filter). -Ryan vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
