Heater core replacement

I am right in the middle of replacing the heater core in my 1998 Blazer and ran into a snag. I have the dash apart and the heater box is loose but I cannot fiqure out how to get the core out of the box! Do I tilt the dash or is there some way to take the whole box out and replace? Any help would be great

Re: Heater core replacement

You have to tilt the dash to get the heater core out. I had to change the one in my 1995 Blazer. Buy a Haynes manual to help you out.

I have already replaced it by tilting the dash. I went out and bought a Chiltons book on it and found it no help at all. If I followed the book, I would have had to take off the right front fender, headlight assy, discharge the A/C system etc... If anybody has to replace one, DO NOT follow the Chiltons book. Tilt the dash.A whole lot easier!

Cool I'm in mine right now

Shatar, I just tilted the dash at the end of yesterday, are there screws at the core cover? Is there a core cover? I ran short on time because I followed some directions for earlier years. Who knew it would change? That's how I found this site.

Extra help is appreciated.
