S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
Hey i got a good friend who owns a 1997 Eclipse GSX (AWD) 245 HP.
He was challenged by a guy who owns a chevy s-10 pickup, this pickup has been modded, its got a V6, its a 4x4. The pickup also has a supercharger in it, who would win a quarter mile drag? There is some serious money at risk and i was wondering if it would be a fair race?

i thought the eclipse gsx comes turbo charged? do they not, i have a friend who has a 98 eclipse and i thought it was the gsx model and his is turbocharged, but i could be wrong, maybe only some are... anyways, i know the 4.3's can be very fast, but if the eclipse is turbo charged then i would go with that, if not then the s10 will probably take it...

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
weight is going to be the biggest factor. i like the s-10's but the 4x4 is going to lose that race the 4x4 weight is over 2800 lbs and the cars weight is well under 2800 lbs. car is quicker on the line and faster on the top end. sorry s-10

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
you must have missed when he said the s-10 was suppercharged. i would go s-10 and tell the guy with the s-10 to cut the wire for the govener so he can go faster the 97mph

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
it doesn't matter if the s-10 is supercharged or not the gsx is turbo charged and wants to had NOS so weight it still going to stop the truck and anyone who has been around knows it's easier to go into battle with a club and not a stick

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
I would say the gsx.4x4's are too heavy, regardless of the supercharger.

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
ummm a supercharged 4x4 ??? I don't think this would be built for drag racing ... more for pulling or muddin would be my guess ...

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
you people are stupid!!! 4x4 who cares not much more weight, it will still move. it will keep tell gsxer to screw the the nos. nos and japcrap are like bigblock+suppercharger. tell the s10 guy to dyno his truck the hp/wieght ratio is the same is not better. think about it 4.3supper or 2.0 turbo. Ive heard of guys racing there s10s with supperchargers and snaping axles.

Re: S-10 Pickup vs Eclipse
i dont think the size of the engine is gonna matter in this one. they have a 4.3 in this big heavy truck, and a 2.0 in this little light car. plus the transmissions will have there gears set up differently. the 4.3 is not made for going fast, (not saying they dont) while the eclipse is. the eclipse is gonna smoke it.... actually my neighbor had a 4.3, not supercharged, and he raced a kid in a 95 eclipse and the eclipse beat him, but not by much, and that 4.3 wasnt a 4x4. now if the 4.3 was in a a shortbed single cab s10, then the truck might have a change, but beinbg extended and 4x4, no. also the 4.3 only has about a 170 hp ( not 100% sure so dont quote me) and the gsx has like 235, no comparrison...
