G20 vs. Jetta
Do you think a 1996 VW Jetta with intake and exhaust could beat a 2000 G20 with intake and exhaust in a drag race? the Jetta is stock 115hp, and 125 torque, but weighs 2657 lbs. Thanks

i serious doubt the 115hp jetta can beat a 2000 G20, stick vs stick, i think g20 still has the advantage

haha ya thats what I thought too. My friend was like, 'im buying a 93 Jetta that has an intake and exhaust, and Im gonna kick your ass with it." I just started laughing. Hes like, "Im gonna put all this money into it and have it be really fast." I laugh at people like that, because 90% of the time they never do put a lot of money into it...I believe it if I see it.

My friend had a 95 2.0 Jetta (auto) before he got a 02 G20 Sport (also auto). The G20 Sport is a lot faster then that Jetta could ever hope to be and he had intake, exhaust, chip, and loads of other stuff.
Another thing is girls drive 2.0 VW's. My girl friend drives a 2.0 Bettle. No way one of things can smoke a G20. Lolz

My bro has a '99 Jetta.. It's heavier than the earlier models and still only has 115 hp. I seriously feel really lucky to have a 145 hp car lol

An earlier model VR6 (3rd gen?) is pretty quick, they could easily keep up with a 5-spd G20 in stock form, most likely pull from one. The 4th gen is a little bit heavier, so the G20 would have a little more of an advantage but... the VR6 would probably still pull. They have more torque and hp, and about the same weight, if i'm not mistaken. My mom has the latest gen 2.0L Jetta auto (DOH!) but she likes it, she doesn't care how fast it is, just wants it to look nice (which it does), and it gets real nice gas mileage. The 2.0L are no match for a G20, the G20 will take it in any contest of speed, especially the 5-spd G20s.

i dont know man, a mirage with 120hp MT was able to keep up with my AT pretty darn well. not that it could ever "kickmy ass" but was doing better than I thought it would.
talking about getting kicked in the asss, got kicked in the ass by a regal SG or whatever 3.8 V6 240hp. heeheh iwasn't drag racing him, but a silver sedan that was trying to merge infront of me from an intersection. was able to keep the sedan out of the way, but from the other side of my g, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!

The 2002 VW 1.8GT has a ~170 hp. It pulls very well but I can't remember if it can pull as well as the G20. It corners good too, again not too sure when compare to the G20. In the end, I think the 1.8GT can keep up witht he G20 if there is a good driver behind the wheel.
