S-10 with 2.8 and auto trans-Questions

I run a mailroute. It's 100 miles with 400 stops. The local dealer has a 1987 S-10 with the 2.8L and automatic transmission. It also has the extended cab which is great for hauling mail. My 2 route cars now are a 93 Dodge Spirit and a 2001 Extended cab S-10 with the 4.3 and autotrans. How reliable is the 2.8 engine and the automatic transmission in this older truck? I would be driving this truck right at 6-8000 miles a year. The mileage on this truck is 112,000 miles. Can anyone give me some info on this engine/transmission setup? Thanks for your help!

Had an 85 with the same setup. Got 230k out of the engine before it went. The tranny is another story. Have had 3 mid-late 80's vintage Chevy trucks with autos and all needed rebuilds by 140k or so.
