My wife's cr-v started having ac problems a month or so ago. The compressor would kick on and off continuously. The dealership said that the PCM was bad and it would be an expensive repair. We decided to go without the ac. Just the other day she was stopped (in drive) and when she went to accelerate the engine reved up but would not engage the transmission to move (sometimes), or it would go into gear,but would not shift out of first. Also the gear light for park and the light for D4 were both on at the same time. She could turn off the ignition and take the key out - wait a minute, start up and go for a while before it would happen again.
We had it towed to the dealership and they diagnosed it as a gear in the transmission was "locked up," and I needed a new tranny. They said it gave a generic computer code of PO700.
I'm thinking that they really don't know.
Could the PCM be causing these problems?
What should I do?

a p0700 is a code that will be stored in the engine section of the pcm. They needed to go into the trans section to retrieve the real trans code. There could be an electrical problem with the compressor. the only thing to do would be to monitor the a/c command with a scanner while the a/c kicks on and off. if the comand says on and the compressor kicks on and off i would say its not the computer because its still commanding the a/c to be on. there is a single wire on the compressor that atatches to the fan shroud. when the a/c is on try wiggling the wire. I have seen them break but still make contact intermitantly, so if you wiggle it and the compressor turns on and of i would say that thats your problem.
