96 Cherokee - Cranks, doesn't run...

I have a 96 Cherokee that died on the highway at about 65mph, and refuses to start again. I saw a post on here, "96 Cherokee won't start -PLEASE HELP" and tacked onto it, but should probably start my own thread...

Basically the vehicle stuttered a few times and died out of nowhere. We have exhausted all we know at this point for diagnosis.

Here's the list:
All the fuses are good; engine is recieving power to and from the coil, dist, and plugs; fuel pump is working, injector tube has pressure; all injectors are recieving power; checked for suction from air intake; checked compression = good; checked basic timing all things seem to be lined up; no temperature/coolant issues; replaced the CPS (not very fun); checked for clogged exhaust, nada

The engine will crank, and crank, and sometimes have a little stumble at the end, at which point a small white cloud of half spent fuel will puff out the back... I can only assume an electrical / timing issue here, but don't know where else to look. It was really depressing when it didn't start after the CPS swap...

Is there anyway to adjust timing, the dist seems to be hard mounted, with no room for tweeking...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Ryan

Talking Repaired!!!

We resolved our issue and thought we should post the finding in the event someone has the same problem...

As it turned out, the ignition coil was producing power and providing spark. The spark was apparently not strong enough to ignite compressed fuel. We removed and tested the coil, it failed the High Voltage Ohm test, we also noticed some cracking on one side.

Replaced and voila, she bangs...

Thanks to those who replied to my previous posts, you ideas were greatly appreciated.
