Coolant flush or transmission flush?

Coolant I've done.. but not transmission

For Coolant it is easy to get a 'flush kit' ($3 from advance auto) and install it. and also some radiator flush liquid (also about $3)

It's basically a 'T' pipe fitting that you splice into your coolant line and can hook a garden hose up to.

basic steps are:

1. drain radiator (find the petcock valve near bottom and drain into a pan
(don't just dump the stuff it's very poisonous and it's sweet smell atracts animals so don't let your pets near it) Dispose of it according to your local laws.

2. pour contents of flush liquid into radiator and top off with water

3 with radiator cap off turn on engine and turn on heater and let run for about 5-10 minutes

4. drain radiator again (hot this time be careful)

5. Install flush kit. (simply cut hose and put the 'T' pipe in)

6. Attatch hose to newly installed flush kit. and turn on garden hose (don't use full power!! as that's too much pressure for your system just turn on hose to where it is 'flowing' out not 'spraying' out.) water /coolant will start pouring out your open radiator (the kit usually comes with a 'spout' you can stick in your open radiator to direct that flow)

7. now turn on car and let run (and turn on heater so that coolant goes through your heater system as well)

8. Do this until the water coming out the radiator is clear.

9. shut off garden hose and disconnect from the flush kit 'tee' and close the flush kit tee. Then drain radiator.

10. refill radiator with straight antifreeze. and with radiator top still off start car and let system warm up again (should still be warm) the level in radiator should go down as the car runs and cycles the coolan t through the system (leaving the top off the radiator willl blead the air out of the system..) after it has run about 5 - 10 minutes refill the radiator to about 2 inches from top then close the radiator.

11. Your done.
