Hello AF,

Here is my Tamiya 1/24 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Team CLK Sportswear that I built a while back. I also used a Sakatsu Detail Kit. This model was built while Matthew at Scale Motorsports was developing the SMS Detail Kit for this car, so while building it, we kept in continuous contact to discuss what details were needed or not.

As a sidenote, this car is currently up for auction on EBAY. You may think the price is high, but this model was monumental towards putting me on the map of the modeling big leagues!!! Plus, it has won many awards and it is spectacular if I don't say so myself!!! Enjoy.

James,

Yes, it does seem "crazy"....but, consider this; First off, I'm a professional at replicating full sized motorsports subjects in scale, let's say I put in 200 hours building this car, (which is under estimated), my time is worth money, even at $5.00 per hour, (and it's definitely worth more than that), that's a g-note right there....Yeah, I know it can't be based on my time alone, of course there is the materials required to build this model and the time spent in researching the full size car. It's not very often that builders such as myself will part with their prized possessions, the fact that this model has won numerous awards and featured on the cover of a magazine makes it truly, a one of a kind.
Now think about this....my McLaren MP4/6...what do you think this is worth? I would not consider anything less than $15000.00!!! And yes, this model is insured for that amount.

Food for though....Thanks for your comments though!

OMG It looks so good. I understand it's worth that much! Look at those tailights. All the wiring. Got just one worth for this car to summarize what I think: Unbelievable!!!

I like this "newbie" written under your user name!!!
Surely, this masterpiece is worth the money! I've been searching for some detail that could tell this is a 1/24 scale plastic model (apart from the fact I know the kit)... and I found... one! (indeed: at the right side of the fourth pic, an "EPM"*!!...)

Thanks for sharing! I don't have enough  to express how impressed I am! (happy to see I'm not the only one!)

(*: EPM= ejector pin mark)

Auction is only up to 80 bucks so far :sly: no doubt there is a long way to go. Realy US$1,200 is not much considering the time and craftsmanship involved. I wonder why nobody ever bothers taking pictures of the right side of this car

I noticed the ejector pin mark too but figured it would not be visible when the body is mounted on the chassis.

Reference is found through relentless searching through magazines and books as well as scouring the www. I'm always searching 'cause one of these days I want to finish my Original-Teile CLK GTR with doors opened up and removable front cowling. I have another Sakatsu detail kit as well as the SMS Detail kit waiting to be used.

A masterpiece but for $1200us i dont want any ejector pin marks at all, and i think that is a fair comment so please do not take it the wrong way. Bob.

WOW, the CLK sold today on EBAY for the "Buy it Now" price of $1200.00 US, ejection pin mark and all!!!! I'm a very happy camper. You cannot see the EPM with the body on and the car is not meant to be displayed with the body off, it was just removed for the photos. You wouldn't remove the EPM from the backside of a part that will never see the light of day...same thing here. The next CLK GTR I build will not have those marks on the door sills...Trust me.

Great model Bil. On all your models the attention to details is superb!

I found a mold line on the suspension of his MP4/6 (http://members.shaw.ca/bil_attridge/Gallery/Formula_One/pages/Front_Suspension_jpg.htm)!

Where? I can't see anything that looks like a mold line in that picture. Are you sure you're not imagining things? :)

Stephen,

I can guarantee that you do not see any mold lines on the suspension, for one thing, they are metal and for another, what I think you are seeing is the racing tape that keeps a sensor line snug to the suspension arm.
Nice try though!!! TamiyaCon winning models do not have basic model building deficiencies....Sorry, I'm being a little defensive on this comment.

I see it too :naughty: , just kidding Bil. I'm sure that you would not overlook something like that. Besides I looked at all the pictures trying to find something wrong only because I was jealous. :sunglasse
