Key remotes

Hi all, I have a 1998 540i, and the remotes on the keys stopped working. We replaced the batteries, as well as have tried the steps in the owners manuel to activate the lock system. I have checked all the fuses for the remote lock system, no problems with the fuses either. Does the remote receiver go out? Is there any other known problems with the remotes not working?

Re: Key remotes

YES, if reinitializing pre the owners manual doesn't work, the DWA unit has 'locked itself up'...it will ignore these attempts until reset with a MoDiC, DIS
Tester or GT-1 computer.................................jb.
