Steam Out Of Vents When A/C Is Onfrank2164 07-13-2004, 08:36 PM 1996 Honda Accord - Sometimes when I put the a/c on, steam comes out of the vents. Anyone have any thoughts what this might be? Doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. DJ Brady 07-14-2004, 01:17 AM it's like the steam that comes out of your freezer when you open the door, it's water vapor going from very cold air into the very warm air of the cabin of your car and becoming visible for a moment. Don't be concerned, it's actually a good sign that your air is blowing ice cold. frank2164 07-14-2004, 07:14 AM Thanks DJ Brady phoenixitc 07-14-2004, 09:52 AM Happens quite often when it's really humid outside. AccordCoupe666 07-14-2004, 06:04 PM if you are worried about it you might wanna get it checked cause afterall the 96 accord was recalled for the A/C. cause i have a 96 accord too and thought that might help out. JimmyzGarage 07-15-2004, 10:12 AM Sometimes mist from the vents is an indication of a low level of freon. You should have the freon pressure checked to make sure you are not starting to run low. That water should be captured at the condensor and not released in the air as the air is cooled. If it happens every once in a while, like on a rainy day, I probably wouldn't worry about it. I used to notice a problem like this when I drove near creeks in the morning during the summer - a little more humid in those areas, plus I didn't have the AC on full cold..
