Morgan Finished! (my best yet)Ra_15 07-13-2004, 03:40 PM Took around 6-8 hours (I think :)). Can you tell me what you think and if there are any mistakes before I give it to my Grandad’s friend please? Secretmodder: I checked the wheel and number plate, and they seem all right. Here it is: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/118193Morgan_Finished.jpg EDIT: and here's the ref: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/118193Morgan2.jpg Thanks, Ross. 5uPrA RyDa 07-13-2004, 03:55 PM im speechless..... that is nice! the shadow is a bit rough to me on account of u can still see the pencil lines, either that or its just me looks good though Karen512 07-13-2004, 04:03 PM very nice. You are very talented  Ra_15 07-13-2004, 04:13 PM Supra: Yeah I know, its the scanner though, the real thing looks way smoother than that. Just try to picture it smooth lol. RalliArt3kGT 07-13-2004, 05:42 PM Wow, thats amazing. Definatley your best work yet. Jeep_Rubicon 07-13-2004, 06:05 PM great drawing, keep it up! Howielong 07-13-2004, 06:46 PM Looks very good. You should make one in color. stuffbyalex 07-13-2004, 08:34 PM looks great Ross! You've really given this car a "classic" kind of look. The windshield seems to slope down a bit towards the passenger side, and the rear wheel's ellipse seems a little weird... but I'm not one to critisize on that issue. We need bonz here. Other than that, i think it's your best one as far as graphite drawings. Keep it up! Alex bonzelite 07-14-2004, 02:12 AM alex, you learn well, son. you're spot-on with your crits. ra15, that is a stunning work. you have laid seige. wow. i am impressed. only things other than what ra15 (what is your name i forgot) stated as crits that ARE true, is also already mentioned: the shitty drop shadow work you did. what the...??? you took pains to make an amazing, gorgeous sheetmetal and glass reflection study and you lost your breath. the drawing must be COMPLETELY consistent if you bring out the big guns like you have. you did a supersonic rendering job with an awful shadow job. you need to bone up on your handling of the media in dark areas. also, the sliver of steering wheel that can be seen looks like it was carved with a pocket knife from a branch. and your front plate lettering is drunken looking. now drop and give me 200 push-ups. well, 150. you get points for doing the treadwork on the rubber tires. few people take that road. (would've been nicer if the treadwork was seen wrapping around the entire face of the front tire that is to the viewer -you sort of peetered it out.) Ra_15 07-14-2004, 02:26 AM its Ross btw Bonz. I'll edit the top so you can compare the ref with mine. ok? The wheel looks right, as does the windshield. The undershadow looks ok in the flesh, but I'll fix it just to keep you happy ;). Oh Yeah, the steering wheel IS wooden . bonzelite 07-14-2004, 03:00 AM ross, fix the rear arcs of the rear wheel/rim. bring them in more to a curve. overall, the rear wheel looks flat-ish presently, as if it were slanting to the back more than curving. this flatness exaggerates the effect of the tire looking off. makes it look stiff and angular as opposed to soft and effortless. LOL on the steering wheel comment!! yes. it is wood. we can live with the front glass. for drawing's sake i'd leave it. could have been a bit higher on the RHD "driver's side," even if you swear it mimics the photo. sometimes, oddities in photos that are "correct" do not always translate to a drawing. you have pretty much kicked major ass with this work. you have great taste, by the way, in cars. bonzelite 07-14-2004, 03:04 AM ross, the top part of the rear rim is too "open" looking. it distorts off to the upper left like it is streched somewhat. close it off with a revised arc. i know this is hard. i hate elipses. they will humble a hard man. Ra_15 07-14-2004, 03:14 AM OK, I'll do the wheel as well. I measured the windscreen (on a scale od 1:2, because its a photo size) and its right, look closely at the ref to see what I mean. On the back wheel, there is too much of the top wheel showing I think which is the prob? Jeep_Rubicon 07-14-2004, 10:16 AM Ross: wat did u use to make ur shading soo smooth? bonzelite 07-14-2004, 01:38 PM ross, the problem with the back wheel is what i said already. you have made the elipse lop-sided. the left side (rear edge) of the arcs all the way to the metal rim are off. you need to bring the arcs into the top regions of the elipses sooner. right now they are too severely slanted and it makes the wheel look like it is leaning to the left. and that affects the way the top area of the spokes looks because all of the arcs are drawn a bit off. once you change them, the wheel will be fine. as for the front glass, it is one of those optical illusions. it looks like it slants too much at the top. were i to draw it, i would make up for it by drawing the top of the glass incorrectly so the optical effect disappears. but you can keep it the way it is as it is subtle. as i have said before, it is small enough to leave alone. and there comes a point when you must just abandon the drawing. Ra_15 07-14-2004, 01:41 PM Jeep_Rubicon: I used tissues and q-tips (can't afford tortillions and stumps ;)). It also helps if you can shade w/out tools well, as that helps the smoothness even more. Bonz: Updated the undershadow so its look pitch black. also changed the rear wheel, also, I darkened the wheels. There isn't that much point in scanning it again, you'll just have to picture it ;). Anything else I need to fix? bonzelite 07-14-2004, 01:52 PM ross, keep in mind that you could have shown this drawing as it was on the first pass, and whomever saw it would have been floored shitless. we're refining it here. that is all. the things that we talk about here would probably never come to mind by many. SeCrEtMoDdEr 07-14-2004, 02:08 PM yup i think its very cool. just what bonz is mentioning...and the letter/numbers on the liscence plate are too thick...oh and the right side of the plate needs to be straight, and yours curves slightly :) picky picky picky... <<<<<<<off topic: WTF is the crap on the left side of posts...friking ads, that blows. bonzelite 07-14-2004, 03:26 PM what do you mean? the avatars? those are always there and part of the forum. what ads? SeCrEtMoDdEr 07-14-2004, 05:19 PM for a while, there was ads on the side of my screen... an ask jeeves one and sum others, it cluttered up my screen, it's gone now...just on the far left side a thin add like the ones in superstreetonline.com or importtuner.com...the side ads. guess it was just me. not the avatars, lol, thats funny. i am we todd did i am sofa king we todd did HighOctaneNOSUser 07-14-2004, 05:56 PM Looks awsome, a little grainy but that is prolly just the scanner 5uPrA RyDa 07-14-2004, 06:31 PM yup i think its very cool. <<<<<<<off topic: WTF is the crap on the left side of posts...friking ads, that blows. happened to me too a while ago. :disappoin HighOctaneNOSUser 07-14-2004, 07:10 PM Yeah, just happened to me too...That sux... SeCrEtMoDdEr 07-14-2004, 08:19 PM woo hoo, so i dont have a virus... it pissed me off when i had it, made the page all crammed, anyways, back to the drawing. Do you plan on posting it again when you fix stuff Ross? or are you leaving it? bonzelite 07-14-2004, 09:02 PM it would not surprise me if in years ahead they had you swallow a microchip in a drink that makes you dream in advertisements, as that has become, seemingly, the primary goal and concern of society today. everything seems hotwired to some form of consumption, as even during movies on cable channels, they parade in the lower corner not only the station's id logo constantly, they advertise for the next week's movie with annoying little, albeit well done, animations and promos. bonzelite 07-14-2004, 09:04 PM also, speaking of it further, the last tv film i storyboarded, "the last ride," was nothing but a feature-length promo sales pitch for the pontiac GTO. then, during the movie, they had commercials for the GTO, too. so those spots became commercials within the larger commercial. HighOctaneNOSUser 07-14-2004, 09:47 PM Lol, bonz, that is really strange...Has anyone seen that episode of Futurama where fry has an advertisement dream? It is of the same concept as Bonz's First Comment... bonzelite 07-14-2004, 09:59 PM are you serious? i mean, they have your driver's license with that magnetic stripe on it. basically, this has every transaction that you've ever made at a store on there, your whole bio information, how much you make, where you are shitting at any given moment. and it is all meant to allow the post man to fill your box with junk. and seedy internet marketers and phone solicitors to stick wires in your brain at will. bonzelite 07-14-2004, 10:03 PM soon enough, attending pre-school and beyond will be nothing but a place to go to begin soliciting commerce to future tax payers. and at snack or nap time, the teacher will give kool-aid and cookies laced with electronic/molecular based superconductors that will dovetail with the RNA/DNA helix amino-acid protein chains to accept a pavlovian type of response to the most minute stimulations of advertising. white blood cells will be engineered to have microscopic billboards on them that will attack competitive advertisers who slip you a free drink at a party with their own microchips. watch. that will happen. and i hope it is in the next century and beyond because this world will suck. it will attach new meaning to "virus." because of the rise of the molecular age at about a.d. 2020, this type of cybernetic infection will become commonplace. you will need an internal spam-blocker. i know for 101% certainty that this will occur. i have no doubt about it. and i'm not being sarcastic. SeCrEtMoDdEr 07-15-2004, 12:26 AM wow, i really shit on this thread when i mentioned advertisements...you all went wild... chad just needed someone to talk to,,,that explains his long posts. hes such an old man...:smokin: so, ross, feel like getting this thread back on track by posting the drawing again... Pulp Fiction: The Bonnie Situation "I'm here to help, and if my help is not appreciated, lots of luck gentlemen." bonzelite 07-15-2004, 03:12 AM old man here. yes. i went off. sorry guys. i do get off carrying on about the crassness of advertising. it is my business, and i often have contempt for it, eventhough it has garnered huge success for me personally. Ra_15 07-15-2004, 04:43 AM LOL, I'll post the drawing again then. I hoped you didn't spot the numberplate letters, but you did so I'll do them ;). I haven't had the add's yet. Just those things at the top of the screen? Also, when I scan the pic, if the undershadow looks grainy, thats the scanners fault, and it looks 100% smooth in real life. AND, I'll fix the way to dark value next to the left light. Ra_15 07-15-2004, 09:21 AM OK, here's the update. Smoothed the undershadow, redone numberplate, and a few things to the wheels. As allways, tell me if there are more misstakes. http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/118193Morgan_Updated.jpg Thanks, Ross. Jeep_Rubicon 07-15-2004, 10:26 AM um, ot me the rear wheel looks slanted, like from the top its coming out to far, or maybe it just me Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
