RSX Trany Defectchancho 07-13-2004, 12:08 AM Anyone having problems with RSX's base model transmission should visit http://www.acuradefect.com/ to join a campaign to have Acura/Honda fix the freakin problem. crazy_canuck 07-13-2004, 08:10 AM What's the problem? Gear grind? If so a huge petition was already launched and to no avail. crazy_canuck 07-13-2004, 08:12 AM So it is gear grind - a quick remedy is a short shifter. That also is a good performance mod. chancho 07-13-2004, 10:56 AM It was not clear to me that the original petition included base models as well as Type-S RSX's. My dealer has recognized a problem with Type-S RSX's, so I'm trying to focus my campaign and get people's sigs to support a fix for the base model. And this petition will not be to no avail. Just keep your eye on www.acuradefect.com and you will see what I mean. RSX-S777 07-13-2004, 04:50 PM My dealer, and the company as a whole, does not formally acknowledge any problem. I have signed the petition, but expect nothing to come of it. I wasn't aware that the base had a problem as well. crazyeric5000 07-14-2004, 09:07 AM has anyone actually fixed this problem with a short shifter or is that just a suggestion off the top of somebodys head crazy_canuck 07-14-2004, 01:51 PM Many people have said the short shifter has alleviated the grind so I guess it should work. cartoys21 07-15-2004, 01:22 PM My type-s grinds between 1st and 2nd and vice versa Tzano 08-04-2004, 07:23 PM How much grind are you getting? I just bought a new 04 RSX and I've noticed that shifting from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3, the clutch sortof "fits" into a spot not as smoothly as to 4th and 5th. cartoys21 08-05-2004, 01:55 AM Well, I just get a minor grind right there in the shifter when sliding it into gear. I've never had any abnormalities with the clutch. chancho 08-05-2004, 10:15 AM No issues with clutch, gear 2 grinds, and its very obvious. mauryh 09-05-2004, 10:27 AM I have '04 Type S and notice mostly when linkage isnot warmed up and especially at lower rpm that there is not a smooth shift between first and second gears. I have occasionally also experienced a notch or catch in the shfter between second and third. I was told that breakin was needed reagrding the 1-2 gear matter. Have over 5k miles now and still have same catch between 1-2 abd 2-3 gears. crazy_canuck 09-05-2004, 02:22 PM Dammit now i'm getting gear grinding  Another rason for me to get an RX-8:D The 05 RSX seems like its a smoother tranny..... cartoys21 09-05-2004, 04:36 PM Dammit now i'm getting gear grinding  Another rason for me to get an RX-8:D The 05 RSX seems like its a smoother tranny.....
