What can i do to the TDI Beetle to make it faster???

hey, i have a 2000 TDI beetle. its 1.9 L diesel and i was wondering if i could do anything to make it faster. i want more power. i've been told that i cant do that much since its diesel. i hope thats not true, so if somebody could help that would be much appriciated. thanks

Actually, you can do quite a bit. The difference between diesel and gas, however, is mods to diesel engines generally cost more than standard engines. Partly because it's a smaller market, and partly because it's just a little more involved.

You might check out the TDI FAQ under "Performance" for pretty thorough coverage of what's possible, and how.

Not trying to advertise but this guy did work on my dad's cummin's and it screams. His son's cummins is building 1000ft.lbs. of torque.
He specializes in cummins but he has some cool VW TDI stuff as well and he'll answer tech questions.

would putting straight pipes from the CAT back effect the gas milage any....

I'm not sure about the gas mileage. I know bigger pipes made a uge differance with my dad's truck. If nobody elsse here can answer that try emailing that guy i told you about.

The site referred to with the TDI FAQ; www.tdiclub.com has your answers about performance I suggest you register and cruise the forum and use the search to avoid flames lol. As for the exhaust, no improvement over stock has been gained. Improvements elsewhere as in bigger injectors, turbo, intercooler etc. , would have to be done before a larger exhaust would be necessary.
