55 in a 35... wait no... 56 in 35

Alright. I knew with the way that I drive I was eventually going to get a ticket. Racing, speeding, donuts... it was bound to happen.

Having on of the best nights of my life. Cruising around with a friend, racing, practicing 180s in my 2 week old eagle talon. Went to gas station (BP) for some gas. "Uhh... we aint serving gas for like 5 minutes." I said "up yours" and turned left on my main drag street. If I got gas, I would have turned right. I was speeding and all at the same time, my friend yells "COP!", my radar dector goes to Ka5, and I see him. Never seen a cop park there before. I slam on the brakes and just continue on. Cops pulls out after me, and a couple blocks later, turns on his lights. I pull into a Walgreens and the cop gets out. "Gimme your license and insurance. You're getting a ticket for speeding." I didn't even have a chance.

5minutes later, he calls on the PA, "David come here." I pissed myself. I get out of the car and walk to the squad. Oh yeah, did I mention it was a State Sheriffs squad? He says the plates arent registered, and asked me when I got the car. Had gotten plates day before. He had some other questions too.

He then says that I was doing 55 in a 35mph zone. I looked shocked, but I knew the truth. When he hands me the ticket, it says 56 in a 35mph zone. since its now 21+ above speed limit, I suddenly have to pay more.

Now, I'm driving on a ticket and have to pay 130 something. Im only 19 and living at home. My parents dont know about this yet I dont want them to know. Do you guys think that I can get away with this??? I have to see if I can take the drivers course online, and get that off my record. Is this going to fail?? Are they going to find out??? Oh yeah, I live in Illinois.

First if you want your parents not to know you will have to get it deferred (unless you are paying your own insurance) or dismissed. Also you will have to check your mail regularly to get the court papers. Now if this is your first ticket which it sounds like you probably can get it deferred. I got my 42/25 ticket deffered on Jully 1st. I basically admitted to speeding, told the judge i screwed up, never been in trouble before etc and he deferred it for me.

Check these websites out for some help.

And this is for washington state but it helped me out http://www.fringeweb.com/ticket.html

Good Luck, let us know how it goes

I sent a money order and selected to take the course online to keep if off my record. I just have to wait for my license and registratino for the online stuff to come in the mail. This isnt going to go on my insurance, is it?

This is going to fail miserably. Trying to not get people to know stuff is hard. Trying is the first step to failure.

Actually, it looks like speeding was the first step.

Oh yeah... boycott B.P. Amoco. If they had served me gas, i wouldnt have turned left. Im boycotting them.

Hey, stand up -- you said it was bound to happen!! I like the deferral idea though, we don't have that in VA. Definitely worth a try.

Wow, you couldn't just wait 5 minutes? Chances are it would take at least 5 min to get to another gas station and start getting gas from there.

I say you should have to pay more than that!!

Anyways, inconclusion, I picked up my license from the court house on my lunch breaka at work oneday. Almost got me fired b.c. i was so late coming back. And just today, I got the mail regaurding my traffic school. My mom got to it b4 I did, so I got screwed over. My parents know, AND i stillhave to goto school yet in september now. Anywho, my parents werent too pissed. "You should have told us... blah blah blah..."

It's all good.

yeah, believe me, it's better to tell your parents first.

I had my mom go with me to court and my advocate talked to her, he asked a few questions about my car (he thought it was a miata, told him it was just an mx6) and he got me deferred with only 16 hours of community service.

You still shoulda waited though :P
