We have had a 92 SL2,93SL1,94SL2 and a95SC2 and they all burn a lot of oil. At least 2 to 3 quarts between oil changes. Is this a normal ngine problem and what can be done to fix the problem. The 94 SL2 we have now has a rebuilt engine with 5000 miles or so and it to burns a lot of oil. Thanks

sorta normal for a saturn to burn oil, best i've seen: 1qt in 2000 miles, worst i've seen 1qt in 250-400 miles. most people blam this on one or both of two things: piston ring and valve guide seals. if you look over at saturnfans.com for something called a "MMO soak" in the how-to section, that will some times help the rings. ether way, lots of people have broght up oil problems on saturnfans.com, it a gold mine of saturn info, i'm sure you'll find something

yep, the overhead cams burn oil like crazy altho my 95 SC2 doesn't!
the valve seals are your best bet to replace.

Would getting new rings and/or valve seals help/fix the problem? :)

those are two big parts of oil burning. the MMO soak can help free up the ring. nothing much can do for the valve seal short of replacing them.
