196 ft-lbs out of a 2.0 liter 4? Are you sure that is right? About the only way I know of a four cylinder to make that kinda torque is via a TURBO!

...but I can almost guarantee that this 196 lb-ft. of torque figure is bullshit. Those of you that think Superstreet is a reliable source for technical info should think again. I say almost guarantee, because I cannot back this up, except that all the confirmed data I have seen suggests that this figure for torque is bogus. And everything I have seen and read about Honda engines agrees with this notion.

Well, Nissans new 2002 SE-R Will be throwing up numbers like that, without a turbo, or vvli. Nissan’s new all alloy QR25DE 4-cylinder puts out 170 bhp and 175 ft-lbs of torque. In the Spec V, it pumps out 180hp and 180 ft-lbs of torque due to a larger exhaust system. I do have to agree JD, Honduhs are generally weaker on the torque. It is hard to believe they can have it matched up with the HP rating. :)

I know that Supet Street takes cars to my friend's shop to test them on the dyno. I can't speak for this CTR in particular, but if SolReaver would be so kind to dig the article up again and quote the sources at the end of the article, if there are any. One should be the place where they tested it. If not, they may have been pitching rumours, in which case, you'd be right.

Like most highly commercialized auto review magazines, SuperStreet goes with "rumorville" type sources of information, which this data on the CTR most likely is.

The JDM ITR had 178nm of torque?

I was thinking the same thing Worshp, most car mags state the new 2.0L i-VTEC's has having around 190-/+ Newton Meters of Torque, which is about average for a 2l 4.

In the September 2000 issue of Super Street they featured a 1999 CTR and quoted 117 lb-ft of torque at 7500 rpm. They actually called it "measly." They also say that it's annoyingly loud after about an hour in the car, and recommend earplugs.

I got it from the June 2001 issue. I would scan the page for ya but my scanner doesn't work. Stupid piece of mokey crap!!!

He's referring to the new engine, i-VTEC. I think 196 ft/lb is a bit high though.
