Use sticky velcro or double sided tape of some sort instead of a magnet. That sounds like a much better place to attach it than most.

I didn't know the hood wasn't steel either...

IIRC the hood, roof and trunk are aluminum and the body panels are dual sized galvanized steel.

Regarding hide a key...hrm I'd probably put it somewhere where even I would forget where it goes :P

Ok, for all of you thieves, please hit the back button. Where I hide my key is the most obvious spot but no one would ever think to look there. The caps come off the center of the wheels extremely easy. I put my key in some paper towel and then wrapped that in a zip bag and then stuffed it in the center of one of my rear wheels behind the cap. Then if I lock myself out, all I have to do is pop that off and pull out the key. No trying to crawl under my car. I fugure putting it in the back wheel will minimize any balancing problems of the wheels going off balance. I figure I would feel it less in the back. But I have never noticed a difference with any vibrations since I've done it. And it has been years now.
