Truck Torbo's???Raz_Kaz 07-09-2004, 02:31 PM out turbo2nr 07-09-2004, 03:14 PM theroyretically it should fit up but will be hell to spool most trucks are 7liters and up.... but you can try it i know a couple of people running the intercooler of the bug 16wheels trucks on their car... lolz.. the ony thing about a truck turbo is that im not to sure about hte cooling system on it and if tis compatible with the cars.. 1 Neutrino 07-09-2004, 05:19 PM For a turbo set up to run properly and eficiently you have to match the flow properties of your engine with the compressor map. Its doubtfull that a huge turbo meant for a very large diesel would match. Neutrino 07-09-2004, 06:09 PM Are there any diesel van's that have a large enough engine for this turbo set-up? Are there even diesel vans in the US? But anyway if you whant some sort of sleeper van, i belive chrysler made some turbo gasoline ones in the late 80's early 90's duplox 07-09-2004, 06:22 PM If you want a sleeper van, what about somethin like an E-350? Not a minivan, but an actual van. Then you already have the rear axle set up(you can even get 4wd for some sweet traction) and you could throw a 460 in there, PLUS your truck turbo would probably work well on a 460, AND you have an actual truck frame there to work with, probably wouldn't need any reinforcing to hold up to a 800+hp big block. I think it'd be awesome. Paint it all shitty, like a white spraypaint job, crappy rusted steel rims.. no one will see it comin.. but they'll sure as hell see it leaving! xyfalconsrock 07-09-2004, 10:11 PM Ive seen truck turbo's on datsun 120y's before. They ran 351w's with massive truck turbo's on em.But the only reason y is that the guy worked in a truck workshop and had a turbo from some guy.But it was one mean machine! landyacht 07-09-2004, 10:41 PM If you want a sleeper van, what about somethin like an E-350 This is the best route to go for a sleeper van. but go with the E250 and the short one to cut down on weight. You have a solid vehicle and will come nicely loaded. It's already RWD. These vans are NOT 4WD, there are RWD only. And you can buy them with the diesel engine, which comes turbocharged. Get a 6 stage boost kit for it, or do direct propane/nitrous and you've got a killer van. The only other sleeper van i can recommend is a real REAL short Chevy van from the 80s...ones that are about the same size as a Ford Escape. you can put a great power plant in there cuz most of em had the 305/350 cu. inch (5.0L and 5.7L) V8s in them stock if i remember right. You can tune those suckers like crazy! landyacht 07-09-2004, 10:43 PM PS, it's not beneficial to take a turbocharged Diesel and put it in a car. It can be done, but i think it'd be cheaper to just buy the truck and add mods duplox 07-10-2004, 06:54 PM Sorry, I didn't even notice the second part of your question.. the 'do trucks use turbos' part. YES! Almost all trucks that have diesels will have a turbo. Turbos and Diesels go very well together. My uncles F-250 with a 6.0L Diesel is turbocharged. LOTS of big rigs are turbocharged. many many many diesels are turbocharged. Volkswagon/audi's TDI cars are turbo diesels(TDI stands for TURBO DIESEL injection.. dur). Turbos and diesels are like frosting and cake. Delicious. landyacht 07-11-2004, 04:30 PM Turbos and diesels are like frosting and cake. Delicious. LOL, i agree!
