Blazer Bumper

My son and I are trying to replace the front bumper on his 88 blazer s10. Went to a junk yard this past weekend and could not get bolts from old bumper undone. Obviously the bolts are all runsted but sprayed wd40 on them but the other problem we had was once we loosened the bolts a little the square head would come out of square hole in bumper and whole bolt would turn. It also seemed like on one bolt that the bolt was turning by the nut but the outside of the bolt was not??

Basically am asking for some help from you guys on replacing old bumpers...I am new at this with my son but we are enjoying some bonding time.

I had a similar problem. Try cutting the old bolts and just putting new ones in. That square piece is what is usually tack welded to the frame so the nut doesn't turn. Once you get the old bumper off of the doner truck just use nuts and bolts when putting it on the new one. Good Luck!

Re: Blazer Bumper

Try tack welding the square nut and then grind it off after removing the bumper.... if there's enough clearance. Last resort, torch it off.
