Unhappy 1992 S1o Blazer Stalls

Really kickin my butt. My Blazer stalls in the morning after about a 1/4 mile of drive. Shuts off like it runs out of gas. When I get it restarted, it would stall in idle, run rough if I hold the gas pedal down. After about 5-10 minutes, it would clear up and run fine all day. I've had 2 mechanics look at it, both times it wouldn't stall for them. I've replaced the fuel filter and the ignition module. Spider injectors were replaced less than 2k ago. About to try my 3rd mechanic. Any ideas would help greatly.

Pull your upper plenum and make sure that the injector isn't leaking again (just because it's new doesn't mean that it didn't go bad)... Also did you replace your nut kit when you replaced the CPI unit??

When was the last time you changed your plugs/wires/cap/rotor?? Pull a couple of plugs at least and check their condition...

I've had the truck since Oct 03, has less than 4k miles since I own it. Plugs/cap/rotor all done within the 3k miles. Had injectors done in a shop, I'll assume they did all the necessary stuff. Also, the mechanic who did the injectors found nothing...

He may have just replaced the injectors... That also doesn't mean that they didn't go bad...(very common) Pull your upper plenum and check for washing (one side cleaner than the other)... If it's washed on the passenger side, your CPI is bad again, if the driver's side is washed then it's your nut kit..

Again, also pull a couple of random plugs and check their condition..

If you know what it is...
He didn't replace the fuel line/nut kit and it cracked dumping gas into 1 cylinder-

Happens ALL the time...Call him back and have him fix it right...

If you dont mind may I ask what the damage $$ was to have it 'fixed' ?

We don't know that, not gonna know anything until he pulls that plenum...Again, the nut kit could be perfectly fine and the CPI unit went bad again... Or it could also be a clogged EGR or bad IAC (though at this point both should be pulled and cleaned)... Without process of elimination from a decent starting point, just taking it back and say "Fix it right" Is not the proper way to handle it...

Correct- but if he doesn't know what a 'plenum' is and had someone else fix it the first time- I doubt he's gonna want to pull it off. He should ask if the guy put a new kit on.

I have always seen that it is usually the nut kit that is leaking due to not beeing replaced - Due to 150,000 mi and the stress of off/on again.

Doesn't the middle spark plug almost alway carbon up on the side with the excess gas?

He should also be blowing out some black smoke most likely I belive.

Everyone bitches when the mechanic says "You got to replace the whole thing - 1 part costs 600 $" It lasted 150,000 mi - & have you priced 6 new Fuel Injectors lately ???

Re: 1992 S1o Blazer Stalls

CPI units are 270 at advance, you can't just replace one, it's a complete unit...(CSFI 96-up units are the same) CPI is batch fired, CSFI is sequentially fired. Though you can get the regulator (which is really what leaks) at www.lindertech.com for $99.00 ... Either way it's a very easy do-it-yourself repair... Required tools... 10mm socket, 8mm socket, new gasket (7 bux) Also he can get the nutkit for $45.00-65.00 at the dealer.

Re: 1992 S1o Blazer Stalls

Cost me $700.

Not blowing black smoke...as I said, after I get it running, it runs fine all day. Gonna pull the egr today and check the plenum.

Re: 1992 S1o Blazer Stalls

I ment the one unit is cheaper than have to buy 6 individual injectors.

Its 1 injector and 6 pintle valves - last time I had to replace one Advance-napa-everybody- said HUH?!?
Dealer only
Yea the regulator is usually the leaky part but if someone is paid to to it you might as well have him do the whole thing - with as many miles as it's bound to have something is has to be somewhat plugged- not gonna be much cheaper if you get the whole thing now for under 3 bills (hope they are better than those cheap aftermarket injectors.... )
