I just bought a 96 Aurora a couple of days ago. On the Info. center it says check oil level. The oil level is fine. I just got an oil change yesterday. It would also come up with needs oil change but the mechanic took care of that. Is there any way to reset this? I can't even find the battery in this car! Oh the check engine light is also lit. I took it to auto zone and they said I have a misfire on cylinder 3. Is this the plug, the wire, or the coil?

most likely your plug or wire has gone, if you just bought it then you prob need all new plugs and wires since the previous owner prob didn't do it, the check oil level prob isn't broken your car needs like 7 quarts of oil, alot of V-8s only take 5 so a mechanic not familiar with the car might only put 5 in. the need oil change resets on your cars information center, press the eng button until you see oil life then press reset until it says reset and then oil life is 100%, you should very much enjoy this car have fun

Your battery is under your back seat. You just lift up on both sides and it kind of pops out of place. Then you just pull the whole back seat out. You'll see the battery plus a lot more electrical stuff. You have lots of fuses under your back seat also. Plus to get rid of the "needs oil change" message, you just hit the engine button until you get to oil life and then you hold down the reset button until it says "reset" on the screen. You should do this everytime you change your oil. The computer is "supposed" to know when you are supposed to change your oil. It can tell by the way you drive how used the oil is and when it should be changed. But it goes well over the 3,000 miles. At 3,000 miles, it is only about 60% down. I know the manual suggests changing the oil about every 7,000 or 10,000 miles but I would rather be on the safe side and change it every 3,000 miles. Extra safeguard. And just to clarify the post of 97 silverbullet's post, you need to have 7 quarts for the crank case and however much the filter holds. If you only put in 7 quarts, you will still be low. A filter holds between 1/4 quart and 1/2 quart. I buy the normal filters and I put in 7.5 quarts of oil in. So he is probably right and the tech didn't put enough oil in.
