Hi everyone! I have a 1993 pontiac grand am 2.3 liter. My car has no power when i stop. I really have to rev it up if i am on a hill or just stopped. The engine is not sounding right. I have tried everything. I have checked the fuel pump and injectors. I have replaced the spark plugs and they are not getting enough spark and i have checked the map sensor, the harness, the vacum hose for the crank shaft, the coils are fine. it is running on only two cylinders. I have even done a compression test. They are all testing a 180 PSI. I get the right ohm readings in the ignition control sensor. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If your spark plugs aren't getting enough spark then you should check the spark plug wires and coil pack then possibly the ignition module. Other than that with all you checked it might be your wheel covers or your rear view mirror is out of tune. Seriously need more specific symptoms than "doesn't sound right", you can tell your mechanic that but he unlike us can hear the car for himself
yeah definitly check the coil pack and spark plug wires. More than likely one of those two things...and like catback said, it could be the rearview mirror..those things are notorious. My buddy had to total his Escalade cuz he hit his head and knocked it off...didnt run the same after that lol.
ok, if the 93 is like the 95, its not really a "wire". Take off the cover that exposes the sparkplugs, Theres little black plastic housings on each sparkplug. Those are technically the "wires"..those just pop right out and you can pick up new ones at any autoparts.
after replacing a brand new icm it was the coil housing after all and to top it all of i found out today that it is the same exact car i sold 4 years ago. It is running great thank you for helping me
