Thumbs down RPM Guage

Today I was doing to normal commute when I noticed that my RPM gauge would suddenly fall to 0 and then go back up. I've seen this before in other cars but only with the MPH. Does anyone have any information on fixing it? Thanks.

Re: RPM Gauge

I'm not sure, but it might possibly be a loose connection. Do you live on a dirt road or drive on one often?

chek the gruond cables on the batt. it is critical that fords have a good ground, or it could be a loose connection like thunderbird muscle said

As a matter of fact I was driving through a construction zone that had a gravel/sand mix road, when I noticed the problem. Wow you guys are incredible. How could this have affected the RPM gauge? And now I noticed that when it gets to 2,500 RPM the needle falls and then when it goes below it pops back up. What's the deal?

Re: RPM Gauge

Sounds one of the wires has been shaken loose. Like chiken power said it could be the ground, but it could be the wire on the tach there are many more.

Hope you figure it out.

Re: RPM Gauge

If it's and SC check the camshaft sposition ensor.
If the upshift light stays on during cranking, check the crankshaft position sensor.

It's not a SC.
