I am a newby with automobile repairs. Can someone tell me what I need to replace to correct a problem with shifting gears. The car has 159k miles and never has been in the shop one day for any major repairs. It has been a great car. The problem I am having is when trying to go to 1st and 2nd gear mainly it is becoming hard to shift. When going into reverse you will almost every time scratch gears unless you jerk the stick really quick and hard. Going into 1st is the worst it seems some mornings i really have to forcefully put the car in 1st and 2nd gear. The clutch does seem kind of soft but because this is the only manual automobile I have nothing really to compare with. If the clutch is going bad, how much should I expect to pay to have it replaced(parts only).
Check fluid in clutch master cylinder, under hood beside the brake cylinder. Probably due for a new clutch kit though. Go to www.advanceautoparts.com and check the price for a clutch kit for your car. Not expensive but need some knowhow to replace. Time to call in some gearhead friends.
umm, for more sugjestions i would highly recomend hitting up the actaul camaro forum. you will get way more responces and there are some extremly knowledgelbe(spelling) people in there.
