under hood light???dmorlow 06-30-2004, 09:04 PM Is there supposed to be a light under the hood in a 95 Oldsmobile Aurora? There isn't one in mine and I find that odd. David DistanceGuy1 06-30-2004, 09:35 PM I have a '95 too and there is no light (or socket for it) under the hood. One would think there should be, but........ dmorlow 06-30-2004, 09:39 PM I just make sure that I have a flashlight in my trunk just in case I break down. But I just thought that maybe it broke off or someone took it off. I just couldn't imagine that the car wasn't made with one. But if it doesn't have one, I'll live. I've been living with it this way for a few years now. I just thought I would ask. If it supposed to have one, I would install it. dmorlow 06-30-2004, 10:54 PM I guess if there isn't one for it, is there a way to install an aftermarket one? Is there such a thing as an aftermarket hood light? It would be nice to have and if it doesn't cost too much, why not? dmorlow 06-30-2004, 10:55 PM Or maybe I could take one out of a junk yard out of a different type of car and wire it in mine. Just have to wire it straight to the battery but I would have to put a pin switch in so when the hood is down, the light is off. dmorlow 06-30-2004, 10:58 PM Only $13 for a brand new one off a buick regal from gm-car-parts.com. For $13, it is hard not to put it in. KJH 11-04-2004, 02:35 PM Regading the under hood light issue. I swear there was an operational under hood light on my 95 Aurora when I purchased the car in 97. Several months after the light went out, I decided to change the bulb and couldn't find the bulb so I think it's there and just well hidden. onehunglow 11-04-2004, 05:00 PM Hi dmorlow - do you know which year Buick Regal or part number I can find that hood light? gm-car-parts.com is hard to navigate through to just find a hood light Thanks dmorlow 11-06-2004, 07:00 PM I actually never put one in mine. I just put a flashlight in my trunk. That should be good enough. 95Antelope 12-12-2004, 10:01 PM Don't use a pin switch - too hard to mount. Use a mercury switch. A little glob of mercury runs between the contacts when you tip it. Most factory jobs use these or get one a Radio Sack. dmorlow 12-13-2004, 07:49 PM I've always wondered how that works. I have a remote starter and there's a thing that looks like a bulb under my hood. And that is how that thing work... with mercury. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
