'84 Corolla SR5 project initiation

OK This thing is a heap with many miles but has po' tential. Vehicle was last under own power maxing speedo and tach on fwy when loss of power ended with blown head gasket.

Any ideas on what to do next? thinner head gasket and increase compression? thicker head gasket to prep for turbo? stock head gasket and wait for 4age swap? All I have to work with is the choice of head gaskets as a start. This vehicle needs to run before any swaps.

I am leaning more towards a stock head gasket and swap whole motor later. Forced induction and free revving this SR5 motor might cause it to grenade.
