Been there done that. First jump power to the fan direct, be careful with fingers, etc. If the fan does not come on, it is bad. I changed mine and it was also pretty obvious that the motor was burnt. 2 weeks later it stopped working again. Jumped power and fan ran. Had to get relay from the dealer. To change the relay the book tells you to remove bumper fascia etc. But when I bought the relay at the dealers (2 nd trip in 2 weeks)the parts guy took pity on me and told me to remove the right headlight assembly and drill a 2 inch hole in the plastic under the headlight to get to the relay. I took some time to find the relay with fingers and when I was pretty sure where to drill, I got lucky and opened up right over the top. 20 minutes I was done. It has been fine now for 9 months.

Good luck

Question How best to replace the fan?

What is the easiest method of removing and replacing the fan? I would rather not remove the Radiator of I dont need to. Your thoughts?

Re: cooling fan dose not come on

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was able to remove and replace my fan just by removing top and bottom radiator hoses and unbolting the fan shroud. It is a tight squeeze but if you just take your time and have a friend help by moving things out of your way when you need it it came out and back in ok. Good luck.

I actually took it out today. I only removed the top radiator hose when I pulled out the shroud. The bottom hose was a pain in the a** to get around. But I managed it. I used a 10 mm wrench. The Top driver and passenger bolts were easy. The bottom passenger was easy. The bottom drivers was real tough. But I found that being patient and taking my time I was able to employ an open ended crescent (fitting) to get the bolt off. I am going to notch out the shroud at that bolt before putting it back in. Just in case I need to remove it again. You see it would have come out easily if it was not a closed loop hole. So by opening the hole in the shroud removal and replacement should be a breeze. I can provide details on just how I did this to anyone what really wants to know. Thanks JKG261

Re: Re: Re: cooling fan dose not come on

Glad to help and that everything worked out okay for you. With the price of Gas these days, everytime you can avoid dealer repair costs, you can afford to drive a few more days.
Take Care, JKG261
