Question check engine light (98 Passat)

I, in heavy rain, drove thru a flooded street (6in deep) and my check engine light came on. (not flashing)The next morning, when I left home the light never came on. The following day, the light was on again, and has been on since.(about a week) Need I worry? Should I just undo the neg. battery terminal and reset?

Re: check engine light (98 Passat)

I'd check the codes to make sure, hopefully it's just intermittent miss codes. Have them reset & see if they come back. This basic work can be done with any generic scanner, even for free @ Autozone.
