i am almost 18 and have been forced to drive a rav 4 for the past 2 years (my parents bought it for me). well i and currently saving up to buy a new car and i really want an mr2. or atlest something sporty. my father owns a 95 supra and he lets me take it out whenever i go on dates or anything, so i know how to drive/handle a manual sports car.
i am kinda weary about the mid-engined design though. isnt that gonna make it real expensive to service if somethin goes wrong? i'm also a pretty tall dude, about 5'4 1/2. i have only gotten to look at 1 mr2 in person and that was in a parking lot at a mall. i cannot find them ANYWHERE. and thats one reason why i want one. i want something different. but being kinda tall, would it be a littel hard to fit in a mr2?

i'm also not looking to buy an mr2, do an engine swap, and change everything in the car. i am looking for a car to buy, put a few bolt-ons in and have a fairly sporty car to have fun it. not really for serious racing.
please gimmie any questions, comments, and concerns.

Im about 6' and fit fine, check em out in the auto trader and test drive one, I think youll really enjoy it. Ive never driven the N/A version but the turbo model has some acceleration and with some minor mods and a bit of work youll have yourself a nicely tuned sports car.

u can find them on autotrader xcars and ebay... do u mean 6'4 1/2? because 5'4 isnt tall... i think you should be fine if you are 6'4 but the best way is to actually sit in one and see if your feel comfortable... how much money do u have to buy the car with? do u want a turbo or n/a?

if u do get an mr2, its a fun car... i wouldnt recommend to take it out right away as it has a tendancy to oversteer due to its mid engine design... some consider this a bad thing, but it is just a characteristic of the car and can easily be contered... so i recommend to get a feel for the car before taking on a corner that fast...

yes i am 6'4 1/2, typo. i dont have alot saved up now, but look to spend between 8-10 thousand. i dunno if i want a turbo or not. i'm not looking for a hardcore tuner. just something that can hold its own on the steet.
some of the other cars i am looking at are newer mazda potege 5, 99 style celica gt-s, civic si, (and if i can save up enough) non-turbo supra.

i dont really know of any specific cars, but say a civic ex with a gaudy body kit, a loud ass exast, and a blue neon kit pulls up to me at a stop light. i want to be able to show him that neons and a body kit dont equal speed.

even if a civic pulled up to u and u were driving a n/a mr2 u would bet him. Civics suck

ok, well what about the mid engined design. how hard are they to work on. and if i need to do something that has to be done by a service shop, how much more is it gonna cost.

WHAO 6'4 is pretty tall guys. Im 6'1 and i can prolly not fit the car if i were to be forced to ride witha helmet on. If you r 6'4 u might not be able to ride in it comfortably. Make sure u sit in it before thinking about your budget.
