Stereo has lost receptionbtebbutt 06-21-2004, 09:46 PM I have a 97 JGC and my stereo seems to have lost all radio reception. I want to take out the head unit to take a look and make sure the antenna is still connected. Anyone know the best way to do that? Any other suggestions? Thanks tommc 06-22-2004, 04:50 PM I had the same problem with my 97 JGC. After replacing the antenea, the dealer and a mechanic told me it was my radio. Bought a new stereo system and that did not fix the problem. Turned out to be the antenea wire. I ran a new wire, which is a pain in the a$$ to thread through. I had to find an alternate route for the wire, as there was no way that I could thread it through were the original one is. Any idea how the antenna cable went bad? Where'd you get a new one? tommc 06-24-2004, 12:53 PM Maybe I should clarify - I didn't lose reception entirely - I just had very weak reception on both FM and AM. No idea what went bad - both the antenna end and radio plug looked okay. I bought a new antenna that came with a cable at NAPA. A word of caution - I couldn't find the same antenna mounting pieces and the original pieces wouldn't fit on the new antenna, so I finally ended up asking my mechanic to mount the antenna properly. You may be better off having a mechanic check it out and have them fix it if neccessary. Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
